Intermediate School is designed to meet specific academic and social needs of students at a specific stage in their education. Research indicates that 5th and 6th grades are at similar developmental stages unlike their peers in 4th grade and 7th grade. Because of this, these students can greatly benefit from an educational program crafted exclusively for them.
The Intermediate School concept offers multiple education and social advantages for students at this life stage:
- A small team of teachers collaborate together in the careful design and delivery of a tailored educational program best suited to these students.
- Each Intermediate School teacher begins the day with a homeroom period and Bible class. This designated time provides opportunities to mentor students.
- Intermediate School is housed in its own “pod” of classes where students can build a sense of community.
- Intermediate students participate in shared activities such as lunch and P.E. which provide opportunities for social growth.
