Music in Preschool
The Music and Movement program for early education is a fun way for young children to develop skills through physical activity and music. This includes singing, dancing, playing instruments, and moving to the beat. As children learn to blend dancing with song, it improves gross motor skills, coordination, and balance. Moreover, it allows children to express themselves through worship.
Music in Lower School and Intermediate School
In Choir class, children worship the Lord and develop their singing voice through varied Christian and American folk songs, scriptures, chants, rhymes and movements. Students are exposed to choral elements, such as ensemble singing, blend, and vocal techniques. Students are introduced to rhythmic, melodic (adding rounds/harmony), form, tone color, dynamics and expression skills. Students explore Music history, particularly within Christian faith traditions around the world. Finally, students will perform a variety of music in Chapel and during special events.
Music in Middle School and Upper School
The Upper School Worship Arts elective will refine students’ vocal and instrumental skills in preparation for leading worship in Chapel and performing several times a year during special ceremonies and services. Students will engage in a variety of collaborative music opportunities – including Chapel preparation, music theory and history, songwriting, and performance. The Worship Arts class is dedicated to musical excellence for the glory of God.
